Over a week after Alan Thicke passed away from a heart attack, actress Paula Patton has broken her silence about the unexpected loss.
Patton and Alan's son, Robin Thicke, were high school sweethearts. They've been together ever since she was 15 years old, but divorced in 2015 due to infidelity on Robin's end. That also means that Patton knew Alan for all of those years, as well.
Taking to her Instagram yesterday (Dec. 20), the actress wrote a special message about her deceased former father-in-law, and the grandfather of her and Robin's son, Julian Thicke. "I knew Alan since I was 15 years old and he had a tremendous effect on my life. I loved and respected him so much! So many great memories and laughs together," Patton said. "We will miss him so much! His grandson is quite sure he is still here with us in spirit."

Alan's widow, Tanya Callau, has also broken her silence about her husband's death. In an exclusive statement to E! News, she said:
It is with gut wrenching sadness and unbelievable grief that I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the outpouring of love and support during this unimaginable time. Through tears and smiles our dearest of family and friends came together at our home to celebrate the life of my sweet and devoted husband Alan Thicke. Yesterday, along with my step sons and our combined extended family, we laid my beloved husband, soul mate and the patriarch of our family to rest. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time of profound mourning.
Gone, but not forgotten. RIP, Alan.
