Animal advocacy group PETA is once again urging Drake to ditch Canada Goose.
“He must end the partnership between his company, October’s Very Own (OVO), and Canada goose immediately,” reads a message on PETA’s website.
The group said it sent Drake a gift basket after learning that the Toronto rapper revealed in a recent livestream that he no longer eats meat. It includes a letter urging him to cut ties with Canada Goose, which is majority-owned by a U.S. company but based in Drake’s hometown.
The OVO collection at Canada Goose includes bombers, pilot hats, scarves and beanies.
PETA said the company “touts a phony respect for the environment yet kills ducks and geese for their down” and “also uses painful steel traps to catch wild coyotes—who pray to make it back in one piece to their families but instead suffer and are killed in horrible ways so that their fur can go around someone’s neck.”
PETA added: There’s no excuse for an artist and role model of Drake’s caliber to disregard the acute suffering of sensitive, feeling beings.”
Canada Goose has previously countered that PETA misrepresents the facts and “ignore the strict government regulation and standards that are in place, as well as our commitment to ethical sourcing practices and responsible use of fur and down.”
