Phil Collins was rushed to hospital last night (June 7) following his concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Upon returning to his hotel bedroom after a bathroom break, Collins, 66, missed a step and fell, receiving a huge gash to his forehead. He was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery.
The singer is “recovering well”, according to reports, but had to postpone two of his shows to allow for a full recovery. A statement on the singer’s Facebook explained:
“Phil suffers from ‘drop foot’ as a result of a back operation which makes it difficult to walk. He rose in the middle of the night to go to the toilet and slipped in his hotel room, hitting his head in the fall on a chair. He was taken to hospital where he had stitches for a severe gash on his head close to his eye and is recovering well.
Phil sends his sincere apologies and thanks to fans. He has had a fantastic week at his first shows in ten years, cannot thank people enough for their warm reaction and is excited to return.”
Both tonight’s and tomorrow’s shows were rescheduled for Nov. 26 & 27. Collins’ tour will continue in Cologne, Germany, this Sunday.
