Police in Buenos Aires, Argentina have detained two people in connection with the death of former One Direction member Liam Payne. A third person is also reportedly under investigation.
Newspaper La Nación reports that those detained by officials have been accused of supplying the singer with drugs. One of the individuals is said to be a maintenance worker at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel where Payne was staying.
A third person, who is known to be a friend of the singer's, is also currently being investigated for abandonment of a person, a charge that carries upwards of three to six years in prison.
According to officials, that person claimed to be Liam Payne’s manager, though he wasn't, failed to inform Payne’s family of his drug problems, and did not respond to calls from investigators following Payne's death.
Liam Payne died on October 16 from head injuries, with internal and external bleeding caused by a fall from a third-floor hotel balcony.
A toxicology report revealed that at the time of his death there was a substantial amount of drugs in his system including ketamine, MDMA, and methamphetamine, as well as cocaine, benzodiazepine, and crack.
Meanwhile, Payne's body has been flown back to the UK ahead of a planned funeral. The body had been held in Argentina while local authorities completed further toxicology and laboratory tests.
