Ed Sheeran was performing a surprise concert in the streets of Bengaluru on Sunday (February 9) for a crowd of spectators when police shut it down.
Fan-captured footage shows Sheeran with a guitar and microphone singing his hit "Shape of You" along with the spectators when the officer walks up and literally pulls the plug on him.
While his team tried to intervene and explain the situation to the official, Sheeran got on the mic saying they had to stop.
Later Sheeran posted on Instagram stories that he was allowed to perform, writing, "We had permission to busk btw, hence us playing in that exact spot, was planned out before, it wasn't just us randomly turning up."
"All good though," he added. "See ya at the show tonight x."
Sheeran, who is currently on the Indian leg of his + - = ÷ x (Mathematics) tour, performed two shows at the NICE Grounds in Bengaluru over the weekend, with two more concerts in India before he heads to China.
From the looks of his Instagram, he has been soaking in the culture, learning how to play "Shape of You" on the sitar, performing with Indian music legend AR Rahman and getting a not-so-soothing head massage.
Ed Sheeran seems like such an awesome guy
