Charlie Storwick’s brand new single “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” is such a powerful shot at a man that it’s hard to believe it’s coming from someone so young.
“I feel like I’m 90 in my head and I forget that I’m 17,” the Calgary singer-songwriter told iHeartRadio.ca only days after the infectious track hit the airwaves.
Storwick (who wants to be known as simply Charlie) admitted there was some pressure to tone it down.
“It’s kind of like this constant… not an argument,” she explained. “Sometimes they try to kind of reign me back. I’m like, ‘trust me.’
“It’s definitely compromise.”
The single comes a year after “Ghost,” her first hit on Canadian radio, and will be included on a forthcoming EP.
Storwick, who won season 4 of TV talent show The Next Star and was one of 25 acts in this year’s Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star contest, is also familiar for playing Piper Gray on the youth series Some Assembly Required.
She says her experience in front of cameras makes the process of making videos much easier.
Storkwick promised the video for “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” is “really cool.”
She teased: “It literally paints the story of the song. I’m this boss lady who got her heart broken and showed the dude kind of what’s up.
“If you close your eyes and listen to the song, the video is exactly what you expect.”
Storwick said she is focused on her music but isn’t giving up on acting.
“I would love to balance both,” she said. “I love acting. I just love being in front of the camera.”
Her advice for girls who want the same?
“I would say the difficulties that you face only get you a step closer to getting what you want,” Storwick said. “Be confident in who you are and don’t be told by people what you need to be.
“The world needs more people chasing their own goals and dreams. Never lose focus of what you want.”
