Three Canadian artists were winners at Wednesday's 2020 Billboard Music Awards thanks to collaborations with other artists.
“Señorita" by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello was named Top Collaboration (a fan-voted category) and Justin Bieber's single with Dan + Shay, "10,000 Hours," won Top Country Song. "Con Calma" by Daddy Yankee featuring Canadian rapper Snow was named Top Latin Song.
Drake and The Weeknd, the other two homegrown acts nominated, came up empty.
The 2020 Billboard Music Awards, which were handed out in Los Angeles in a show hosted by Kelly Clarkson, belonged to Post Malone. He led the way with 16 nominations in 15 categories and ended up winning nine, including Top Artist.
Khalid claimed five awards followed by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus with four and Billie Eilish with three.
Rapper Kanye West swept the Gospel categories thanks to Jesus Is King – winning Album, Artist and Song ("Follow God") – as well as Top Christian Album.
P!nk was named Top Touring Artist, making her only the fourth female to win the category, behind Madonna (2013), Taylor Swift (2016) and Beyoncé (2017).
Run The Jewels rapper Killer Mike was honoured with the first Billboard Change Maker award and Icon Award recipient Garth Brooks performed a medley of his biggest hits.
With the exception of a few fan-voted awards, the BMAs are based on data for the year that ended March 14.
