Noel “Detail” Fisher, the Grammy-winning producer once accused by Canadian singer Jessie Reyez of inappropriate behaviour, was arrested Wednesday on 15 sexual assault charges and five assault charges.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said in a statement the alleged incidents occurred between 2010 and 2018.
“Based on the nature of the allegations, Special Victims Bureau detectives believe there may be additional potential victims and they are seeking the public’s help in identifying any such victims,” read the statement.
Fisher was being held on $6.3 million U.S. bail.
Best known for producing Beyoncé’s 2013 smash hit “Drunk In Love” ft. Jay-Z, Fisher has worked with artists like Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez and Lil Wayne.
In 2018, Fisher was sued by Kristina Buch and Peyton Ackley, who accused him of rape and assault. (Buch won a default judgment against Fisher last September because neither he nor his lawyer responded to the summons.)
At the time, Reyez tweeted her support for the women.
“One night, over 6 years ago Noel ‘Detail’ Fisher tried this on me,” she wrote. “I was lucky and I got out before it got to this. I didn’t know what to say or who to tell. I was scared. Fear is a real thing. The girls that came out are brave as hell.”
Reyez added: “My experience didn’t get this awful. I hope these women find justice.”
She has said her 2017 song “Gatekeeper” is about Fisher. The lyrics include: "Girl, tie your hair up if you wanna be a star / Thirty million people want a shot / How much would it take for you to spread those legs apart? / You could be famous / You know we're holding the dreams that you're chasing / You know you're supposed to get drunk and get naked.”
Bebe Rexha also tweeted support for Fisher’s accusers. "Glad these women came out. It's scary. He tried to with me, but I literally ran out of that studio. Karma is a bitch," she wrote.
"It's scary for females to come out and say something. Those women are strong. He tried to do the same thing to me when I was a new artist."
