Rock band Queen will be honoured this summer with a postage stamp in a country accustomed to seeing the Queen on its stamps.
Royal Mail in Britain announced this week that Queen’s Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon will appear on a series of 13 stamps beginning July 9.
“Sometimes it’s strange to wake up and realize the position in which we are now held – we have become a national institution,” May said, in a release. “And nothing brings this home more than this incredible tribute from Royal Mail.”
Taylor added: “We must be really part of the furniture now.”
Queen becomes the third band to be honoured with Royal Mail stamps following the Beatles in 2007 and Pink Floyd in 2016.
Various Queen stamp sets are available now for pre-order – ranging from $7.30 to $1,176 CAD – from the Royal Mail website.
