Music mogul Quincy Jones is stepping back from some comments he made in two recent interviews.
“I wanted to make a public apology,” the producer, who turns 85 in March, wrote in a statement he shared on social media on Thursday.
“I’m sorry to anyone whom my words offended & I’m especially sorry to my friends who are still here with me & to those who aren’t.
“Thank you for calling me out when I’ve clearly made a mistake…many mistakes.”
Jones gave a surprisingly candid interview to New York magazine’s Vulture, in which he claimed Michael Jackson was “greedy” and stole songs; opined that the Beatles where “the worst musicians in the world;” and said he briefly dated Ivanka Trump 12 years ago.
Jones said Thursday his six daughters had an intervention with him “because of some silly things I’ve said.”
While he did not specify which statements he was sorry for making, Jones blamed his words on being “an imperfect human.”
