R. Kelly was slapped with new criminal charges on Monday.

Prosecutors in Minnesota charged the embattled R&B singer with two counts of prostitution and solicitation.

Kelly is accused of soliciting the girl, who was 17, after a concert in Minneapolis in 2001. She was allegedly offered $200 to strip and dance at his hotel room. Kelly allegedly took off his clothes to dance with her and there was "sexual contact."

“We have special laws to protect our juveniles, and we’re going to enforce them,” Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said at a press conference.

The maximum sentence for soliciting a minor for prostitution in Minnesota is 20 years.

The 52-year-old singer’s lawyer Steve Greenberg called the charges “beyond absurd.”

Kelly is currently behind bars in New York, where he faces federal charges of sexual abuse. He is also facing a list of sex-related charges in Illinois. He has pleaded not guilty to these charges.
