Lana Del Rey revealed in a tweet on Sunday that Radiohead has filed a lawsuit against her over alleged similarities between her song “Get Free” from her Lust For Life album and the bands 1993 hit “Creep.”
In a tweet, Del Rey confirmed reports in the UK press.
“Although I know my song wasn’t inspired by 'Creep,' Radiohead feel it was and want 100% of the publishing – I offered up 40 over the last few months but they will only accept 100,” Del Rey wrote. “Their lawyers have been relentless, so we will deal with it in court.”
Radiohead faced a similar legal situation themselves over “Creep.” After its release, songwriters Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood claimed their song “The Air That I Breathe,” performed by The Hollies, shared similarities to the rock band’s hit. Radiohead admitted that the two songs shared similar melodies and chord structure, and agreed to give Hammond and Hazlewood a percentage of the songwriting credits.
