Harry Styles was unable to perform Friday in Miami due to a rain storm.
Thousands of fans at the Planet Pepsi Zero Sugar concert at the Meridian Island Gardens on Watson Island were ordered to clear out of the venue just as Styles was scheduled to take the stage.
“Extreme weather is approaching,” read a message on video screens at the temporary 6,040-square-metre venue. “Please calmly make your way to the exits now and evacuate the general area now.”
Styles tweeted: “To those of you here in Miami, I was told there’s a severe storm on the way. The fire department would not let us do the show under any circumstances. Please stay safe. I’m so disappointed, and I’m sorry. I love you all. H”
In a tweet of its own, Pepsi explained the the Miami Fire Department pulled the plug. “This was a mandatory evacuation in Miami across special event venues. We are focused on ensuring everyone is safely evacuated. We deeply apologize to the fans.”
Later, Pepsi said fans will receive full refunds and will be reimbursed for the cost of ride share service.
