The Kidd Creole, founding member of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, was charged with murder Wednesday in connection with the stabbing of a homeless man in New York City.
The 57-year-old rap legend, whose real name is Nathaniel Glover Jr., is accused of killing 55-year-old John Jolly after getting into a verbal argument with him.
Glover allegedly left the scene of the stabbing.
On Twitter, he describes himself as “1/5 of The Legendary @thefurious_5, Rhyme Sayer, Pioneer & @Rockhall member inducted 2007" but police said he works as a maintenance man and security guard.
Glover was scheduled to perform with Furious Five on Aug. 20 in Philadelphia, according to his website.

Grandmaster Flash became hip-hop stars in the early 1980s thanks to tracks like “White Lines (Don’t Do It)” and “The Message” but went their separate ways after a few years in the spotlight. (A lyric in "The Message" goes: "Stabbed that man right in the heart.")
In 2007, they became the first hip-hop group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
