Drake is among those mourning the death of Fredo Santana, a rapper who appeared in the video for Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home.”
The Chicago native, whose real name is Derrick Coleman, reportedly died in Los Angeles. He was 27.
Drake shared a photo of himself with Santana captioned simply: “Rest In Peace Santana.”
While the cause of death has not yet been revealed, Santana was hospitalized last October with organ failure. On Instagram, he wrote: “I’m getting back to normal sorry to all my fans … Thank for everyone who prayed for a n**** I wouldn’t wish this on my worse enemy.”
Santana dropped his debut studio album, Trappin Ain’t Dead in 2013.
He leaves behind an eight-month-old son.
The rapper becomes a member of music’s infamous “27 Club” – which includes Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse.
