Steven Thronson, the Kottonmouth Kings rapper known as Saint Dog, died Tuesday at 44.
“Rest In Peace, Rest In Power to a true underground legend,” read a message from his management. “Saint was a unique individual that had a profound impact on anyone he came in contact with. While Saint is no longer with us, his music will live on forever. Rest easy, King.”
A cause of death was not immediately known but, according to TMZ, Thronson died at a friend’s house in Victorville, California after he was found in a bedroom struggling to breathe.
Thronson, D-Loc (aka Dustin Miller) and Johnny Richter (Timothy McNutt) founded Kottonmouth Kings, and appeared on the group’s debut album Royal Highness in 1998. After releasing a pair of albums of his own, he returned to Kottonmouth Kings for the 2018 album Kingdom Come.
Thronson’s last release was last year’s solo album Bozo.
