A song from the married duo who gave us “Let It Go” was honoured Sunday night at the 90th Academy Awards.
Songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez won the Oscar for Original Song for “Remember Me” from the animated film Coco.
Kristen used her acceptance speech to draw attention to the nominees in the category. “Not only are we diverse,” she said, “but we are close to 50/50 for gender representation.”
The couple won an Oscar in 2014 for “Let It Go” from Frozen.
Earlier in the show, “Remember Me” was performed live by Miguel and Natalia Lafourcade as well as Gael García Bernal (the voice of Héctor in the film).
The song beat out tracks from Call Me By Your Name, The Greatest Showman, Marshall and Mudbound.
