The 2017 Grammy nominations were announced yesterday (Dec. 6) and for the most part, many are happy about the acknowledgements certain recording artists have received from the awards show.
One person, in particular, who's overly ecstatic about her Grammy nomination is Remy Ma. The Bronx rapper was released from prison in August 2014 after serving six years for shooting a former friend in a dispute involving $3,000.
Now that Remy has been free for the past 2 years, she's been picking up where she left off in both her personal and professional life. Her and Fat Joe have since headed into the booth and began working together, just like old times. From this reunion, their new #1 smash "All The Way Up" was created. The song is now nominated for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.
On her Instagram, Remy spoke about being the only female rapper nominated for next year's award show. "I've been thru a lot. Nevertheless, I've also been blessed- a lot. This news this morning was just another reminder of how u can never listen to 'they' THEY said so many negative things not even worthy of being mentioned but THEY were wrong," she started her IG post.
"I'm the only female rapper nominated this year ( was the only one in '05 too; don't worry tho I'm reppin for ALL my ladies) I am so humbled and appreciative. I feel like I won something just with the nomination RT. Congratulations to my brother @fatjoe Love you to the #RemyMafia ; my fans are amazing, there's no me without you. And to my husband @papoosepapoose who never doubted for a second, even when I was unsure, you remained steadfast- you are THE BEST EVER."
Shout out to you, Remy. You deserve all of this recognition and more. Nothing can stop you, you're...
