Ricky Martin is helping in the fight against COVID-19 by supporting health care workers – and he has called on a few famous Canadians to do the same.
“As you know, health care professionals are extremely vulnerable and professionals around the world don’t have personal protection equipment they need to prevent them getting infected,” the singer said in a video he shared on Instagram.
Martin said he is donating to Project Hope. “I’m going to ask all my friends to donate. Share this video. You need to share this video,” he said.
Martin tagged dozens of celebrities and asked them to “join our fight by reposting this video & inviting 3 (or more) of your friends to do the same.” Among them are Canada’s Alessia Cara, Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes and actor Ryan Reynolds.
“As many people as possible need to hear what our mission is about,” said Martin.
He and Enrique Iglesias are scheduled to tour together later this year, including stops at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on Oct. 8 and at Montreal’s Bell Centre on Oct. 10.
