Rihanna is donating $7.2 million ($5 million U.S.) to help people affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
The singer and beauty entrepreneur made the contribution via the Clara Lionel Foundation, which she established in 2012 in honour of her grandparents Clara and Lionel Braithwaite.
The funds will go to food banks in at-risk communities as well as towards the purchase of protective gear and respiratory supplies. The donation will also fund research into a vaccine.
Rihanna isn’t the only pop star pledging financial aid during the COVID-19 crisis.
