Diplo, marshmello and Post Malone are among those mourning the death of rising star Lil Peep.
The 21-year-old singer, rapper and YouTube personality – whose real name was Gustav Åhr – died of a suspected overdose, according to reports.
In a video Lil Peep posted on Instagram not long before his death, he said he took six Xanax and was “lit.” He added: “I’m good,” he said. “I’m not sick.”
Lil Peep, whose debut album was released in September, was known for addressing topics like depression and addiction in his songs.
“Peep was the nicest person,” tweeted marshmello. “Hanging out with him, talking to him about music, the song ideas we were going to do together and touring was so amazing. Everyone will miss you man.
“I cant even believe this. We were just talking last week about working on a song together and now you’re gone. You will be missed."
Post Malone tweeted: “In the short time that i knew you, you were a great friend to me and a great person. your music changed the world and it'll never be the same. i love you bud. Forever.”
Diplo said Lil Peep “had so much more to do man he was constantly inspiring me.”
