Rock 'n' Roll legend and hall of famer Leon Russell has died at the age of 74 in Nashville.
A post on the musician's Facebook page confirmed Russell's death. His wife said he died in his sleep.
The musician had heart bypass surgery in July.
Russell who sang, and helped produce some of rock 'n' roll's top records and was best known for his striking white whispy white hair, halfway down his back, and much of his face. Russell played as a studio pianist in the 1960s before breaking through in the 1970s.
He wrote Joe Cocker's "Delta Lady" and helped put together Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishman tour. John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison played on Russell's first album.
