Canada’s Geddy Lee of Rush filled in on bass for the late Chris Squire as Yes performed “Roundabout” at Friday’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
When news broke that Lee and his Rush bandmate, guitarist Alex Lifeson, would be inducting Yes, a rumour began circulating that Lee would play bass. It was quickly denied, though it turns out that was only an attempt to keep it a surprise.
Also included in the performance was longtime Yes guitarist Trevor Rabin and keyboardist Rick Wakeman, the latter of whom has had arguably the most contentious relationship with Yes over the years.
Yes co-founders Bill Bruford, Tony Kaye and Squire were also recognized.
