Sam Smith has revealed that sometimes… man, he feels like a woman.
In an interview with UK newspaper The Sunday Times, the 25-year-old singer opened up about gender fluidity.
"I don't know what the title would be, but I feel just as much woman as I am man,” said Smith.
The “Too Good At Goodbyes” star said exploring his feminine side is something he enjoys. He mentioned visiting a famous drag shop in Sydney every time he’s in the city. “Oh, my God, I just buy everything – heels, dresses,” he said. “We have a great time.
“I love a heel. I’ve got loads of heels at home.”
Smith said as a teenager he idolized gender-bending pop stars like Boy George and Marilyn.
“There was one moment in my life where I didn't own a piece of male clothing, really,” he recalled. “I would wear full make-up every day in school, eyelashes, leggings with Dr. Martens and huge fur coats – for two and a half years.”
Smith, who came out publicly in May 2014, said he initially resisted being labelled a “gay singer” but has come to accept it.
“It's changed – I've changed. I realize that maybe I don't mind that title,” he said.
