Sean "Diddy" Combs has been placed on suicide watch at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center as he currently awaits trial.
Combs was arrested Monday night (September 16) at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan and taken into custody by Homeland Security Investigations. He was indicted on charges of federal sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. The music mogul was denied bail twice this week.
People reports that while Combs is said to be on suicide watch, it has not been confirmed if he is suicidal nor known how long he has been on suicide watch. Sources tell the outlet that it is a preventative measure taken for someone in his state of shock.
The U.S Department of Justice National Institute of Corrections states that suicide watch is "supervisory precautions taken for suicidal inmates that require frequent observation."
Combs is accused of engaging "in a persistent and pervasive pattern of abuse toward women and other individuals.” The indictment covers a period between 2008 to the present, alleging Combs abused, threatened and coerced women for years “to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct.”
He is thought to be the head of a criminal enterprise that "engaged or attempted to engage in activities including sex trafficking, forced labour, interstate transportation for purposes of prostitution, drug offenses, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice."
Over the past year, Combs has been sued by numerous people claiming they were subjected to physical and/or sexual abuse by the music mogul, after his ex-girlfriend, R&B star Cassie accused him of beating and raping her throughout their relationship. Days later the two reached a settlement to resolve the case.
