Selena Gomez says she has felt pressure from the music industry to be overtly sexual.
“I just did things that weren't really me," the 28-year-old pop star told Allure.
Gomez was pictured nude on the cover of some editions of her 2015 album Revival. “There was pressure to seem more adult,” she recalled. “[I felt] the need to show skin... I really don't think I was [that] person.”
The singer also spoke about living in the spotlight from an early age.
“My personal life was out everywhere,” she said. “It felt very claustrophobic and just...I felt very trapped.”

Gomez also faced constant scrutiny of the way she looked. “I was dealing with a lot of medical problems, so I fluctuated in weight a lot,” she said. “It was just unfair for someone to handle.”
These days, Gomez tunes out the attention. She told Allure she does not read comments on social media posts and never Googles herself. “Oh, God! I haven't done that in years,” she insisted.
“I honestly can't. I'm strong in a lot of ways, but I think I just have way too much of a sensitive heart.”
