Selena Gomez is receiving treatment after suffering an emotional breakdown recently, according to multiple reports.
TMZ claimed on Wednesday that the 26-year-old pop star is currently at “an East Coast psychiatric facility and is receiving dialectical behaviour therapy” (DBT).
Citing its own sources, People also reported that Gomez is receiving DBT. It alleged that she had a panic attack while in hospital due to a low white blood cell count – which affects kidney transplant patients.
“She has had a tough few weeks and the panic attack in the hospital was the tipping point,” a source reportedly told People.
“She realized she needed to seek additional help for her ongoing emotional issues. She’s surrounded by close family and has a lot of support. She’s doing better now and is seeking treatment on the East Coast.”

TMZ quoted unnamed sources as saying Gomez had “a meltdown” and “freaked out.”
Reps for Gomez have not commented on the reports. The singer told fans on Sept. 23 that she was taking a break from social media. “As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us,” wrote Gomez, “I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given.”
Gomez is said to have completed a two-week treatment program back in January at Privy-Swiss in Connecticut.
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar published in February, she opened up about her mental health struggles.
“I’ve had a lot of issues with depression and anxiety, and I’ve been very vocal about it, but it’s not something I feel I’ll ever overcome,” she said. “There won’t be a day when I’m like, ‘Here I am in a pretty dress—I won!’
“I think it’s a battle I’m gonna have to face for the rest of my life, and I’m okay with that because I know that I’m choosing myself over anything else."
Gomez told the magazine: “I want to make sure I’m healthy. If that’s good, everything else will fall into place."
