Shawn Mendes has added some surprising ink to his collection of tattoos.
The 21-year-old Canadian singer recently had his sister’s first and middle names – Aaliyah Maria – tattooed in cursive just under his left collar bone.
Los Angeles-based tattoo artist Kane Navasard posted a photo of the new ink on Instagram with the caption: “A sweet dedication, on the man @shawnmendes.”
Mendes is close to his sister and often shares photos of the two of them on his Instagram. Last October, he posted a throwback pic showing him as a 5-year-old cradling his newborn sis.
In a post last September, he wrote: “Happy Birthday 16th birthday to the most wonderful girl I know. I absolutely adore you.”
Many fans have noted that Aaliyah’s boyfriend of just over a year, 18-year-old Jordan Savage, looks like a younger version of her famous brother.
Mendes also has an inked connection to another member of his family: Both he and mom Karen have matching elephants on one of their fingers.
