Canadians Alessia Cara, Shawn Mendes, The Weeknd, Drake and Justin Bieber are among the nominees for this year’s iHeartRadio Music Awards.
Also earning a nod is Canadian rock band Theory of a Deadman, whose track “Rx (Medicate)” is up for Rock Song of the Year.
Leading the way in nominations, announced Wednesday, are Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, DJ Khaled and Luis Fonsi.
Mendes and the The Weeknd are up against Sheeran, Mars and Charlie Puth for Male Artist of the Year while Cara is nominated in the Female Artist category along with Rihanna, Halsey, Pink, and Taylor Swift.
“Stay,” Cara’s hit with Zedd, earned nominations for Best Collaboration and Dance Song of the Year.
The Weeknd is nominated for R&B Artist of the Year and Drake is up for Hip-Hop Artist of the Year.
The remix of “Despacito” featuring Bieber is vying for Song of the Year and Best Collaboration categories and shows up in the fan-voted Best Remix category (which also has “Friends” – Bieber’s collaboration with BloodPop and Julia Michaels.
Mendes appears in several of the fan-voted categories: Best Lyrics, Music Video, and Fan Army. He’s also among the nominees for Best Cover Song (for “All We Got”).
One Direction members dominate the Best Solo Breakout category. Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan are nominated along with ex-Fifth Harmony singer Camila Cabello.
The iHeartRadio Music Awards will be handed out on March 11 in Los Angeles.
