Looks like we’re finally getting some new music from Shawn Mendes. After days of cryptic tweets, Mendes has decided to share the release date and artwork for his newest single, “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back”.
The image shows Mendes shrouded in darkness, holding a guitar – will the single be just as moody?
“The minute I wrote this song I knew I wanted to get it out before my tour started, to give fans something new and fresh in addition to everything from Illuminate,” Mendes expressed in a statement.
“I can’t wait to perform it on the tour, and for everyone to hear it. It’s equal parts what is amazing about this album, and what I’m so excited for about the music I have coming up next.”
The song will drop Thursday (Apr. 20) at midnight. It was written by Mendes, Teddy Geiger (his “Stitches” co-writer), "Treat You Better" co-writer Scott Harris and "Crazy" co-writer Geoff Warburton. His worldwide tour kicks off Apr. 27 in Glasgow, but he has several Canadian dates planned for his home country.
