Shawn Mendes is among the music stars reacting to the horrific incident in Toronto that claimed the life of 10 people and injured at least 15 others.
“All of my love to Toronto,” the singer tweeted. “Heartbreaking.”
A man driving a rented van mowed down pedestrians along the city’s busy Yonge Street between Finch and Sheppard Aves. on Monday afternoon. Police arrested Alek Minassian, 25, of Richmond Hill, Ont.
Singer-songwriter Scott Helman tweeted: "Sending all my love to my hometown today. Right in my childhood neighbourhood. I'm here for you Toronto.”
Calgary pop duo Tegan and Sara also took to social media.
“Just hearing the news of tragic events in Toronto,” they tweeted. “Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and the first responders.”
Jann Arden tweeted simply “Toronto” with a heart emoji. The singer then shared: “I can’t think of anything else to say – but I’m so very devastated by the brutality and the senselessness of the apparent “terrorist” attack on innocent people in Toronto today.
“What a tragedy for the family and friends of these dearly departed souls. Hatred is without mercy.”
Alan Doyle tweeted: “Horrible. Much Love to all in TO tonight.”
Country singer Dallas Smith wrote on Twitter: "Thank you to the brave 1st responders in Toronto."
