It’s a very special day for Shawn Mendes – he turned 19!
Mendes can now legally drink in his native Ontario (and everywhere else in Canada) and can legally smoke in any province (but he shouldn't, of course).
He was born 6940 days ago, on a Saturday, when the Beastie Boys had the top album, Hello Nasty. The No. 1 song was “The Boy Is Mine” by Brandy and Monica.
Bill Clinton was president of the United States and Jean Chretien was Canadian prime minister.
Mendes, a Leo, shares a birthday with JC Chasez of N’Sync and Drew Lachey of 98 Degrees (they turn 41), Creed singer Scott Stapp (43), U2’s The Edge (56), country singer Mel Tillis (85), rapper Kool Moe Dee (55).
Oh, and Aug. 8 is also International Cat Day.
Mendes is reportedly at home near Toronto to celebrate his special day with family and friends.
He'll resume his Illuminate World Tour on Aug. 11 with the first of two concerts at Toronto's Air Canada Centre and then hit Montreal's Bell Centre on Aug. 14.
