Singer-songwriter Teddy Geiger, who co-wrote hits for Canada’s Shawn Mendes, has announced she is transitioning.

“I started talking about it with a couple of my close friends and family about a month ago and it’s given me the courage to start the process,” she explained in an Instagram exchange. "I feel like the next step is to tell all y’all. So here goes.

"Love it or hate this is who I have been for a looooong time.”

Geiger, 29, collaborated with Mendes on “Stitches,” “Treat You Better,” Mercy” and “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back.” She is currently working with Mendes on his new album.

Geiger has also written and produced for One Direction, James Blunt, and Maroon 5.

As a singer, Geiger had a hit in 2006 with “For You I Will (Confidence)” off her debut album Underage Thinking. It was followed by the single “These Walls.”

She also starred in the 2008 made-in-Toronto film The Rocker.
