Shawn Mendes just became the third-youngest solo artist ever to have three albums in the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart.
The 19-year-old Canadian singer’s new self-titled studio release, which came out May 25, is No. 1 on the chart dated June 9. It follows No. 1 debuts for 2015’s Handwritten and 2016’s Illuminate.
Mendes is behind fellow Canadian Justin Bieber, who was 17 years old when he earned his third No. 1 (the 2011 holiday album Under the Mistletoe). They both trail Miley Cyrus, who achieved three No. 1s when she was 15.
According to Nielsen Music, Mendes’ latest collection had 182,000 equivalent album units in its first week, including 142,000 traditional album sales.
These numbers mean Mendes had this year’s second-biggest week for sales of a pop album, behind Justin Timberlake’s Man of the Woods, and the fifth-biggest sales week overall this year.
Mendes is the only non-rap artist in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 – Post Malone is at No. 2, followed by Pusha T, A$AP Rocky, and Cardi B.
