Shawn Mendes earned his first ever Grammy nominations on Friday morning.
The Canadian singer's hit "In My Blood" is up for Song of the Year and his self-titled third album is nominated as Best Pop Vocal Album.
"It's really overwhelming. It's just amazing," Mendes said on CBS This Morning. "I don't have very many words."
Mendes shares the Song of the Year nomination with his Canadian songwriting partner Geoff Warburton as well as Scott Harris and Teddy Geiger.
"In My Blood" will be competing with fellow Canadian Drake's "God's Plan" (which is also up for Record of the Year and Best Rap Song) as well as "All The Stars" by Kendrick Lamar and SZA; "Boo'd Up" by Ella Mai; "The Joke" by Brandi Carlisle; "The Middle" by Zedd ft. Maren Morris and Grey; "Shallow" by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper; and "This Is America" by Childish Gambino.
Drake's Scorpion is up for Album of the Year against releases from Cardi B, Brandi Carlisle, H.E.R., Post Malone, Janelle Monáe, Kacey Musgraves and the Black Panther soundtrack.
Drake, 32, has won three Grammys from a whopping 35 previous nominations.
Other Canadians nominated for Grammys on Friday include Diana Krall and "God's Plan" co-writers Noah Shebib and Matthew Samuels. Samuels, aka Boi-1da, also earned a Producer of the Year nomination.
The Grammys will be handed out Feb. 10 in Los Angeles.
