Shawn Mendes has said he’s not looking for love right now.
In an interview with Variety published Tuesday, the 20-year-old singer admitted: “I’m not currently dating anyone, but it’s not because I don’t have time – I don’t know if I’d be dating anyone if I was home in Pickering, either.
“It hasn’t stumbled across me, and I’m not chasing it.”

Despite being Canadian and living in Toronto, Mendes is featured in Variety’s “Young Hollywood” issue, which notes his strong work ethic and his love for his fans.
Speaking about his personal life, Mendes added: “Of course, seeing all those other artists and people in relationships, you think, ‘Maybe it would be nice; who would be great for me?’ And that’s when you realize: ‘This is wrong. Let it be. I’m not supposed to be with anyone right now.’”
In May, Mendes called for acceptance of LGBT people. “I just say to open your eyes and open your mind,” the 19-year-old Canadian singer told Billboard. “Let somebody be and feel and live how they want to live.”
At Sunday's iHeartRadio MMVAs and a post-show party, Mendes was seen hanging out with U.S. Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy and his partner Matthew Wilkas. Kenworthy cheekily referred to Mendes as his "husband."
Earlier, on the red carpet, he posed for a selfie with Kenworthy and openly gay actor Colton Haynes.
