It was a good night for Canada at Sunday’s MTV Europe Music Awards, where Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Drake, and The Weeknd were all winners.
Bieber and Drake did not attend the show in Rotterdam but Mendes and The Weeknd were there to collect their trophies and perform.
Bieber’s “Sorry” was named Best Song and he also received the Biggest Fans award. Drake was the winner in the Best Hip Hop category.

Mendes, who performed “Mercy,” picked up the Worldwide Act prize for Canada and was named Best Male — a category in which he was up against Bieber, Drake, The Weeknd.
The Best Video award went to “Starboy” by The Weeknd featuring Daft Punk. The Toronto native performed the song during the show.

Mendes and Bieber lost Best Pop to Fifth Harmony.
Other winners at the MTV EMAs were Lady Gaga (Best Female), Coldplay (Best Rock), Twenty One Pilots (Best Alternative), and Martin Garrix (Best Electronic).
Green Day was honoured with the Global Icon award. Performing their hit “American Idiot,” the band changed a lyric. "Can you hear the sound of hysteria? / The subliminal mind-Trump America," sang Billie Joe Armstrong.
Bruno Mars, OneRepublic, Lukas Graham, Kings of Leon and DNCE also performed during the show.
