Shawn Mendes will perform next week during the 2020 TIFF Tribute Awards, it was announced Wednesday.
The Canadian singer is taking part in the special to mark the launch of the Shawn Mendes Foundation Changemaker Award, a $10,000 prize for a film at the Toronto International Film Festival that “tackles issues of social change,” according to a release.
Mendes’ eponymous foundation will also contribute to TIFF Next Wave, which supports young filmmakers.
“It's important now more than ever that we lift up the powerful voices of creatives who are helping inspire change,” Mendes said, in a release.
