Pop sirens Sia and P!nk teamed up with Norwegian hitmakers, Stargate (Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel Eriksen), for their powerhouse collaboration "Waterfall," which marks the production duo's first debut solo single after inking a recording contract with RCA.
Sia and Stargate, who first teamed up to pen Rihanna's 2012 hit "Diamonds," wrote the dancehall banger with Diplo and Jr. Blender, and it was Sia's idea to enlist P!nk as the vocalist on the track.
"Stargate reminded me of this song and said, 'What do you want to do with this?' and I was like, 'I want P!nk to sing it.' She's the best person on the planet and I want her to do it," Sia, who was joined by the "Raise Your Glass" singer, told On Air with Ryan Seacrest over the phone Friday. "Then we turned it into a duet and now it's really just a reason for me and P!nk to be able to hang out more."
P!nk added: "I've written songs with [Sia] and I'm in love with her. So when this came about, I was like, 'Yeah, I'm there.' It was a little more three weeks ago, and the only reason I know is because I have a 10-week-old and I was 9 months pregnant when I sang this song and I almost died."
Stargate is known for producing and cowriting global hits including Beyonce's "Irreplaceable," Julia Michaels' "Issues," Katy Perry's "Firework," Selena Gomez's "Come & Get It," and many others. "Waterfall" marks the first time the hitmakers have partnered with P!nk.
