Pop star Sia says “very sick” actor Shia LaBeouf is “a pathological liar” who “conned” her into having an affair.
The 44-year-old responded Saturday to news that singer FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit against LaBeouf alleging sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress during their relationship.
“I too have been hurt emotionally by Shia, a pathological liar, who conned me into an adulterous relationship claiming to be single,” Sia tweeted. “I believe he's very sick and have compassion for him AND his victims. Just know, if you love yourself- stay safe, stay away.
“Also I love you @FKAtwigs. This is very courageous and I'm very proud of you.”
Sia did not provide specifics about her relationship with LaBeouf, who starred in the video for her hit “Elastic Heart,” which premiered in January 2015. (Sia did not appear in the video, which shows LaBeouf dancing with then-12-year-old Maddie Ziegler.)
At the time, the actor was dating Mia Goth, whom he married the following year (they split two years later) and Sia was married to Erik Anders Lang (they split in 2016).
Twigs, 32, and LaBeouf, 34, dated for less than a year. Her lawsuit alleges he once threatened to crash the car they were in unless she professed her love for him, assaulted her on a number of occasions and intentionally gave her a sexually transmitted disease,
In an email to The New York Times, LaBeouf said “many of these allegations are not true” but admitted: “I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt.”
LaBeouf told the Times he is currently “a sober member of a 12-step program” and in therapy
“I am not cured of my PTSD and alcoholism,” he wrote, “but I am committed to doing what I need to do to recover, and I will forever be sorry to the people that I may have harmed along the way.”
