With the success of “Side Effects,” Dallas Smith this week becomes the first Canadian country artist since 1995 to have three No. 1 songs at home and the only one to have two consecutive No. 1 singles since Shania Twain in 1998.
In a release Monday morning, Smith thanked his fans and country radio stations across Canada.
“The continued support is something that I don’t take for granted and something that will never be lost on both my family and I,” he said. “The quality of country music that Canada is producing right now is something we as a whole should be enormously proud of.”

“Side Effects” is the title track from Smith’s latest album, which was released last September, and follows the first chart-topping single “Autograph.”
The 39-year-old singer from Langley, B.C. also went to No. 1 in 2014 with “Wastin’ Gas.”
Last year, Smith told iHeartRadio.ca said choosing singles isn’t easy. “When you narrow it down to one song for radio, that’s a little nerve-wracking.
“You just never know.”
