Simon Cowell said this week he is confident there will be a One Direction reunion.
“I just think the legacy is too big not to go back to at one point,” Cowell told ET. "Plus they have enough songs. I didn't realize how many hits they've had.
“When they do get back together it will be a huge event.”
The 58-year-old put Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik together after they auditioned individually for The X Factor in 2010.
“Individually they were all great,” he recalled. “The group was the launchpad, but, of course, everyone would love to see them back together, even if it was just a series of concerts.”
Cowell added that each of the guys has found solo success, “but I have a feeling it will happen. I really do. I'd love it to happen.”
Rumours of a 10th anniversary reunion were fuelled recently when a listing for a One Direction show in 2020 briefly appeared online.
