Someone in Vancouver made off with guitars and other gear belonging to Canadian roots rocker JJ Shiplett and his band on Monday.
The Alberta native, whose debut album Something To Believe In was released in January, had just played The Cobalt — his final show of a Western Canada tour — when the theft took place.
“When we weren’t looking someone ran off with a few items,” Shiplett shared on Facebook. “Slimy bastards.”
Among the property stolen was a ’52 Reissue Fender Telecaster, a ’79 Fender Precision bass, and a Fender American Standard Jazz bass.
An iPad, mixing board and in-ear monitors were also taken.
“They can’t rob us of how much fun we had playing,” said Shiplett, who starts a round of festival appearances in Ontario, Quebec and Alberta on June 9.
Shiplett also announced Tuesday that he will be the opening act for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band later this year.
The iconic country-folk group is doing six shows in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba in October.
Tickets go on sale May 26.
