Rock band Smash Mouth was due to perform in Memphis on Thursday but had to abruptly cancel the show after lead singer Steve Harwell experienced trouble breathing during a sound check.
The frontman was rushed to hospital but Harwell’s manager said it “was not an emergency situation.”
Two years ago, Harwell was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a disease of the heart that sometimes makes it difficult to deliver blood to the body.
In regards to the rest of the tour, Harwell’s manager added: ”Whenever he is not feeling great we take precautionary measures just to make sure everything is OK, especially while he is on the road…the doctor is running some tests but he appears to be just fine and intends to resume the tour.”
The remaining tour dates are being rescheduled.
Harwell is one of Smash Mouth’s founding members. This year the band celebrates the 20th anniversary of their debut album Fush Yu Mang, which included the hit single “Walkin’ On The Sun."
