Snoop Dogg is joining the picket lines of the writers (WGA) and actors (SAG/AFTRA) currently on strike demanding fair residuals from streaming content.
In a statement posted to his Instagram, Snoop wrote, “We regret to inform you that due to the ongoing strike and the uncertainty of when this will be over, we need to cancel the Hollywood Bowl show. We continue to stand in solidarity with all of our brothers and sisters in the WGA and SAG/AFTRA during this difficult time and remain hopeful that the AMPTP will come back to the negotiating table with a REAL proposal and we can all get back to work.”
The two concerts were set to mark the 30th anniversary of his iconc Doggystyle album, with Dr. Dre producing. They were originally scheduled for June 27 and 28, but pushed to October because of the strikes. Now they have been cancelled completely.
Snoop is currently in Toronto for a show at the Budweiser Stage tonight (July 26), as part of his H.S. Reunion Tour, also featuring Wiz Khalifa, Too Short and Warren G.
