British pop group Steps are reuniting to celebrate their 20th anniversary with a tour in support of a new album.
Claire Richards, Faye Tozer, Lisa Scott-Lee, Ian "H" Watkins and Lee Latchford-Evans came together in 1997 and enjoyed success thanks to hits like “5, 6, 7, 8,” “One For Sorrow” and a cover of the Bee Gees classic “Tragedy.”
The new album, Tears On The Dancefloor, is out April 21. It’s the group’s fifth studio collection and the first in five years.
Scott-Lee told Popjustice a lot has changed in the world in the last 20 years.
“We’re not here to get into the politics of the world but what we can offer is escapism and a bit of positivity in people’s lives,” she said.
“Everyone’s dealing with lots of different things but music’s universal, and it takes you to another place and time, and this album — I feel — is where Steps should be 20 years on.”
The members of Steps now range in age from 39 to 42 and they have seven children between them.
The group will kick off the 15-date tour on Nov. 13 in Dublin and wrap it up in Manchester on Dec. 2.
Meanwhile, British ‘90s duo Bros announced last week they are scrapping most of their upcoming reunion shows.
The “When Will I Be Famous” siblings — Matt and Luke Goss — were set to hit the road again after a 24-year hiatus.
“Due to logistical circumstances beyond their control, it is with sincere regret that Bros have been forced to cancel four dates on their forthcoming UK tour,” read a statement.
