Stevie Wonder To Undergo Kidney Transplant

Stevie Wonder announced on Saturday that he will undergo a kidney transplant in September.

After performing “Superstition” at the British Summer Time show in London’s Hyde Park, the 69-year-old icon told the crowd he wanted to address rumours about his health.

“So, what’s going to happen is this. I’m going to have surgery. I’m going to have a kidney transplant in September of this year,” said Wonder.

"I'm all good, I'm all good, I’m all good. I have a donor, it's all good.”

Wonder added: ”I want you to know, I came here to give you my love and to thank you for your love.

“You ain’t gotta hear no rumours about nothing. I told you what’s up. I’m good, alright?”

Speculation about Wonder’s health were sparked by a video posted to YouTube on June 25 in which radio personality Patty Jackson said the singer was on dialysis and “hoping one of his children will give him a kidney.”

The Detroit Free Press followed with a report claiming Wonder is “battling a serious but manageable health issue as he continues to perform and make music.”
