Stone Temple Pilots have scrapped plans for an acoustic tour that was set to begin on Feb. 5 in Vancouver and include a stop in Toronto on Feb. 27.
According to a statement shared on social media Friday, singer Jeff Gutt has suffered a “severely herniated disc and doctors have advised immediate surgery which will require weeks of recovery time and physical therapy.”
Gutt, 43, joined STP in 2017, two years after the death of Scott Weiland.
The 15-date tour of small venues was in support of STP’s acoustic album Perdida, which drops Feb. 7.
The band said Gutt’s recovery will not impact an Australian tour with Live and Bush in April and a summer run with Nickelback (including a July 8 show in Toronto).
“We hope to reschedule the Perdida tour later this year,” read the statement.
Ticket holders can get refunds from the point of purchase.
