Punk rock fans expecting to catch Sum 41 at an upcoming Canadian summer festival are out of luck.
Multiple festival organizers confirmed the band will not be playing because lead vocalist Deryck Whibley injured his back.
In a Facebook post, the band states, "this decision has been made with careful consideration for health and safety, and we apologize to the fans for this regrettable and un-avoidable situation. The band is looking forward to continuing their final world tour come this September."
Sum 41 was set to perform at Les Grandes FĂȘtes Telus (Rimouski, QC) on Aug. 1, The Jubilee (New Glasgow, NS) on Aug. 3, Area 506 Festival (Saint John, NB) on Aug. 4, Centre Jean-Claude Tremblay (Saguenay, QC) on Aug. 7, Quebec City Old Port Agora on Aug. 8 and Rock La Cauze (Victoriaville, QC) on Aug. 9.
At this point, Canadian dates scheduled for January 2025 remain unaffected.
