Swedish singer Loreen won the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday with the power ballad “Tattoo.”
It was the second win for Loreen, who was victorious in 2012 with a song titled “Euphoria.” The 39-year-old beat out acts from 25 other countries.
Sweden is now tied with Ireland for the most Eurovision wins (seven).
Loreen, who finished fourth on Sweden's version of the Idol franchise in 2004 after performing songs by artists like Britney Spears, Michael Jackson and Alicia Keys, released studio albums in 2012 and 2017.
Canadian singer La Zarra, who was representing France, finished in 16th place with “Évidemment,” a song she co-wrote with fellow Montreal native Benny Adam and co-produced Montreal’s Banx & Ranx.
Previous Eurovision winners include Swedish pop group ABBA in 1974, Canada’s Céline Dion (who was representing Switzerland) in 1988 and Italian rock band Måneskin in 2021.
